The developing of One Reaching Hand has been quite a journey! Checkout some of key moments and "behind the scenes" glimpses to how we got to where we are today!
April 23, 2021 - Amy-Lynn Howson woke up to news interview requests after a video (shared by a coworker) of her singing for patients in the ICU went viral. This CTV News Ottawa interview with Graham Richardson was a shining moment that only affirmed the heart of One Reaching Hand...the right song at the right time has a way of saying: you are not alone! Just showing up and offering music from the heart can change the world - sometimes one person, one bedside at a time...and sometimes, many, many more than you ever imagine!
Having toured together on The Extreme Tour USA and UK several times since 2019, these two old pals share a heart for helping others through music. Tune in to hear a snippet of the conversation regarding One Reaching Hand during John Gold Florida's virtual release show for his 2025 album, "Cadillac".
Sam Gamper, a cousin of One Reaching Hand founder Amy-Lynn Howson, first reached out regarding ORH after seeing a few (hesitant) posts on the ORH Instagram profile in 2024. A talented multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Sam had been recently reflecting on childhood experiences of singing hymns with his family in nursing homes. Memories of those outings resurfaced and he was wondering how/if he could start getting involved with sharing his music in care settings on his own.
A simple text later...Sam and Amy-Lynn began talking regularly and exploring how he might start taking steps to become a musician in retirement homes in his own neighbourhood. Fast forward 2 years, and with a little Music Care training and encouragement from Amy-Lynn, Sam is doing his thing and sharing his talents in a retirement home in his own backyard! He continues to contribute in many ways to the development of ORH as the first ever team member to join Amy-Lynn in this initiative!
